BROWN AVIATION TOOL was founded in 1991 by Michael Brown. Michael had been an aircraft structures mechanic since 1987 and realized the need for quality aircraft tools at reasonable prices. He began the company by selling new and used aircraft tools and airplane tools out of a truck, but quickly outgrew that operation and in 1992 acquired office and warehouse space near Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City. Continuing to grow at an astonishing pace, Brown Tool leased an 8000 square foot facility in early 2000, also near the Will Rogers Airport in Oklahoma City. With business continuing to grow and space running low, the company purchased a 10,200 square foot building on 4.6 acres in March, 2005. The new facility is located less than a mile from the I-35 / I-40 junction and is located just minutes from the front gate of Tinker Air Force Base. The new facility will allow the company to continue to grow and when the need arises, the extra acreage will allow the addition of warehouse space and offices and allow the company to further expand its offering of aircraft tools and related services.

In just 15 years, Brown Tool has grown from a one man operation operated out of Michael Brown's apartment dining room and pickup truck to one of the largest suppliers of aircraft tools in the country with annual sales over five million dollars. Customers all over the world include major and regional airlines, repair stations, defense contractors, technical schools, kit builders, as well as individual technicians.
