Looking to volunteer
Posted On 07/19/2007 02:42:59 by BoT2002

I posted this in a forum, but thought I might as well post a blog. At the moment I'm stationed in Arizona taking classes as a few of you already know. I also know that some general maintenance between a fighter jet and a civilian aircraft isn't all that different. Though I have about zero experience on civilian aircraft besides small sheetmetal work I've done on a Ford Tri-motor. So if there is anyone in the Phoenix area or who knows anyone in the area who is an A&P who wouldn't mind having a volunteer, please let me know, thanks.

Try googleing aircraft museums in your area.  They like volunteers!

Bo, I have my feelers out for you in the arizona area. You are right, the differences between what you are doing now is not that much different on civilian aircraft. The biggest differences as you will see in school, are the regulations (learn them, live them, love them) and logbook entries. And remember... when you learn the FAA way of calclating minimum rivet-spacing, these are just that... minimums! lol

Look for a position as a mechanics helper at an FBO, or look for a part 145 repair station. they are always looking for good help and you don't need your a&p
