This is my calling
Posted On 07/13/2007 03:31:31 by BoT2002

So I joined the military about five years ago. Well it will be five in August, but whose counting? All I wanted to do was be around aircraft either flying or working on them. When I was 16 I didn't want my driver's license, I wanted to build a plane and fly. Since I've been in, my goal has been to get my degree and obtain my A&P certifications. While taking the classes and working I realized that I needed to find some way to get more involved on the civilian side of things to get more experience, and knowledge. I recently recieved my Aviation Maintenance mag and read the article about this site, and right away I knew I had to join. I hope to meet some great people and share our experiences.

Get your A&P, your degree and retire from the military.  I spent 4 years as a jet mech, and had my license when I got out.  You dont' realize how fast time flies.  Do your 20 have Uncle Sam pay your retirement for the rest of your life, then go get a job in aviation.   You are a quarter of the way there.  I wish I had done my 20 and retired.  I can't complain though I am now working corporate and am very happy.

Get your A&P first, then your degree. Most A&P's are only three or four classes away from thier degree based on college credit equivalents for experience. Google North Central Institute in Tennessee to find out how to do this.

Great story! Welcome to the family!!!
