I've worked on Army helicopters, general aviation aircraft, Gulfstream business jets and large commercial jets. I have enjoyed them all. Hard to say which I would most prefer doing even though the great majority of my time has been on the heavies. I am enjoying my current job as a maintenance manager in a large MRO but sometimes wish I was wrenching in a small shop somewhere. Whatever I do.. it will be aviation maintenance of one type or another. No doubt there.
I live in the land of Bell Textron & Eurocopter. I am always watching test flights wishing that I was the one building / repairing / testing the 'copters!
As pmech said, the Gulf of Mexico (GOMEX) is where to go for rotorcraft. Stable work. Been with my employer for 27 years. Top shelf equipment. S-92 down to 206L-series. Good pay. 7on/7off schedule. Live where you want. One of my crew commutes from CO for a 14 day hitch. Several live a four hour drive away. Per diem. Vacation. Sick leave. 401K. Initial and recurrent training. We, and our competitors, are hiring. Now!
I'm tellin' ya, if you wannna work on choppers come to the Gulf of mexico, work 7 or 14 day schedules with equal time off and live where you want to on your days off........
